How can acupuncture help you?

Acupuncture has been practiced for over 2500 years to restore and maintain health by addressing key imbalances. At Spirit Gate Acupuncture, my approach is grounded in the Chinese Medical theory that the quality of your Qi & Blood determines your wellbeing.

I thus focus on identifying how deficiencies, excesses and blockages in your Qi may be causing physical, mental, or emotional health issues. In essence, when your Qi is in balance, health is maintained. Disharmony often arises from factors common to our modern lives such as:
  • Unresolved emotional issues & trauma
  • Physical injuries or chronic pain
  • Stress from overwork and busy lifestyles
  • Dietary imbalances or medication side effects
Currently the top 10 conditions treated in my acupuncture clinic in Royal Leamington Spa include (in no particular order):
  1. People not feeling themselves anymore, feeling disconnected
  2. Anxiety, depression and overcoming old traumas
  3. Chronic stress, overwhelm & burnout
  4. Pain - mainly lower back pain, neck & shoulder pain, knee pain
  5. Women's health issues - irregular menstruation, PMS, peri-menopause & menopause
  6. Sciatica
  7. Digestive health
  8. General wellbeing & balance
  9. Headaches & migraines
  10. Low energy & fatigue

My key focus at my Leamington Spa clinic is to establish the root cause of your imbalance. By stimulating the body’s natural healing systems, I create a personalised acupuncture treatment plan designed to bring you back into a state of harmony and lasting health.
There is a growing base of evidence to support the effectiveness of acupuncture for a number of conditions. To read more about the scientific explanation of how acupuncture works and about the evidence behind it, have a look at Evidence Based Acupuncture.

Why come for acupuncture?

Acupuncture historically is a preventative medicine to keep you healthy so that you don't fall ill as easily. It's similar to getting an MOT for your car - this is done to prevent the car breaking down rather than waiting for it to break down before fixing it.

In our modern age, however, people typically would come to acupuncture for:

  • pain relief and pain management

  • addressing certain symptoms

  • seeking the underlying cause of niggling symptoms for which they are unable to get a western diagnosis

  • managing stress, anxiety, depression

  • improving overall quality of life

  • enjoying the relaxing benefits of treatment in their high stress lives

  • working through old traumas that may have pathologised into symptoms

  • maintaining their current state of health even if they don’t have any specific symptoms

  • taking back control of their health

  • understanding their body or emotional health in a deeper way

  • deepening the body mind connection

  • easing the transition of the seasons

  • reducing or come off medication

  • supporting their bodies and mental health in conjunction with a western medical diagnosis or treatment regime

  • helping to alleviate unwanted drug side effects for more serious illnesses where western medical drugs are essential and lifesaving
